Forthcoming BAG events

Art in the Oven too!
– 7.30pm, 1st April, 2008
At The Baker's Oven, Fore St, Buckfastleigh

After the success of the first exhibition in September 2007, we are soon to hold our 2nd open evening exhibition in our wonderful local pizza café-restaurant. Everyone is welcome to come and meet us and talk about how the Artist's Home Groups might expand – so come join us on the 1st April, 7.30pm to see a small exhibition of work created by the present group's members - as well as catching up with all the latest BAG news and gossip.

Devon Open Studios 2008 - calling all artists!
B.A.G are intending to offer shared exhibition space for local artists to come together to take part in this annual exhibition trail (formerly known as Nine Days of Art) in mid-September.
Limited space only and deadlines looming – artists please contact us now! Phone Kate on 01364 643090.

STOP PRESS! The new owners of The White Hart have kindly agreed to host our exhibition in their lovely function room to the rear of the pub.

More art and happenings around the town...
It is proposed that during the same week as the Devon Open Studios Exhibition (mid-September) we shall be looking to put on other art events in and around the town. Call it a mini-festival if you wish – hopefully there will be much to entertain and amuse throughout the week. Planning is at the very early stages so now is the ideal time for you to get involved...!

BAGFest 2008 one-day Music Festival
- yes, it's on this year - regardless of the weather!

A major disappointment for the Arts group (and the town as a whole?) last year was the tragic eleventh hour cancellation of BAGFest2007 due to the inclement weather (to put it mildly!).

This year we shall try again, and with a more prudent in-town venue proposed, plus hopefully the back-up option of the Town Hall if any heavenly cats and dogs make a re-appearance, it really ought to succeed this year!

We need your help!
We still have about half of the original private sponsorship money left over from last year to cover running costs, but we will nonetheless be requiring practical help before and on the day - there is an unbelievable amount of work involved in setting up this sort of event. Please don't hesitate to get involved.

Acts wanted
We are hoping that many of the local acts who were prepared to offer their services for free last year will still be keen to take part this year. Therefore there is likely to be only a few places available for new acts, but if you think you might like to take part then please contact us asap. We are hoping to be able to at least cover performers' expenses, plus hopefully offer a percentage of any money collected on the day through donations.

When and where is it going to be?
Things are still at the planning stage so we can't reveal too much about the proposed venue right now, and as far as dates are concerned we are looking at June/July. The day's programme will run from about 2.30pm till 10.30pm, and will boast a variety of acts from singer-songwriter soloists to full rock bands.
